HERE'S WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO LATELY

Dear Piper: Budget Friendly Fashion Trends

If you guys haven't heard of Dear Piper yet, now's the time.

Not only do they have an amazing and growing selection of on-trend accessories (tassel necklaces and bracelets, anyone?!), but they also allow you to customize some of their items to truly make them your own!

Right away I fell in love with their long tassel necklaces because of their antique-looking chains and brightly-colored tassels. They are seriously the perfect necklaces for layering with other pieces or for wearing on their own on a daily basis. The necklace is so light and airy, and the engraved details on the charm connecting the tassel to the chain are beautifully unexpected! I ordered the Dripping in Gold Tassel Necklace in Lovely Lilac, which is perfect for spring and summer, but they have many other colors available as well!

Being an Oregon State student, I couldn't stay away from the brightly-colored Classic Braided Tassel Bracelet as soon as I saw it! The statement pop of orange is perfectly countered with the fresh white silk twist, and the gold hardware adds an elegant and classic feel to the bracelet. These bracelets can be customized to your own school colors or favorite hues free of charge, and you can add on initial charms for only $3 each, so what are you waiting for?! Order your faves now and be ready with elegant statement pieces for any occasion.

I know you're all eager to shop these handmade (can you believe it?) pieces as well as the rest of the Dear Piper collection, so thanks to the line's wonderful creators I have an exclusive discount code for you all! Use the offer code "LARA15" for 15% off your order! SHOP NOW!

When I looked outside this morning, I was not excited about the weather situation. However, that quickly changed when I saw the forecast -- it seems spring may finally be upon us after all!

I was so happy when I saw it was supposed to be 80 degrees out today! We had some nice weather at the beginning of this month, but in true April fashion, the showers eventually came back. Since it wasn't supposed to really start warming up until this afternoon, I knew I should layer a chunky cardigan over my light romper before heading out to my 9am class. This way, I was easily prepared for whatever weather surprises Oregon threw at me today!

I have a lot of walking around to do today between classes, a dental appointment, errands, and a work party, so I threw on my latest favorite ankle booties that are a perfect neutral shade for my skin tone. I love how they are clunky yet sleek, and I've been wearing them on repeat lately! They are American Eagle brand, but I got them for super cheap at Runway Fashion Exchange Corvallis -- and I almost didn't even try them on because they are half a size smaller than I typically wear!

To complete my look I added this beautiful, long, vintage (faux) quartz necklace that I found on eBay for $7 that I am seriously obsessed with. I also added some of my favorite chain & charcoal rings and statement earrings, and, of course, my trusty Michael Kors watch.

This look is seriously so comfy and chic, and since I'm wearing a romper I feel like I can do anything! It's honestly the perfect early spring look for a day of running about.

P.S. If you haven't noticed already, some changes are coming to my blog! I have decided to group all of my posts onto one easy-to-link page so that my blog can connect to Bloglovin' and so that things are a little more organized. Some of my posts have been lost as a result, but it's all for the better. Bigger and better things are ahead!

Spring is here and summer is on its way, and that means three things: the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and festival season is upon us!

While I may not be attending Coachella this year, I will be getting my festival fix later this summer at Paradiso Festival. Besides,  a girl can dream -- right? Either way, all of the Instagram pics from Indio have me dreaming of cold drinks and hot nights spent dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Is it acceptable for me to wear festival attire to class..?

Right now I am all about kimonos and fringe, and these two trends are even better when paired together. I also just purchased a crochet top that I can't wait to break out for a little photoshoot this weekend when we are finally supposed to get up into the high 70's (!).

Pair your crochet top with a lace kimono for the perfect amount of sexy and chic. Add some ombre high-waisted shorts and fringed booties to the mix and you have a killer combination! To accessorize, try your own take on the traditional flower crown (craft time, anyone?) and add an earthy geode necklace. You'll also need the perfect light carryall bag, so go for a small backpack that won't get in the way of your partying.

Feeling inspired? Whether you're heading to Weekend 2 of Coachella or not, shop this look using the links above -- and be sure to let me know what your favorite festival fashion trends are in the comments below!

Spring Term Woes: How to Finish the School Year Right

4/3/2015

Thanks to those post-spring break woes, the craziness of my 21st birthday shenanigans, some increasingly annoying dental issues, and the inevitability of spring term 2k15, I haven't had much time to blog lately. But fear not! I'm back and I'm starting to get things back on track as I settle into the term.

Below are some tips I have for you all as you also start off this beautiful season, whether you're starting classes or gearing back into your full-time job (or both). Let's take this thing by storm!
  • Plan it out. Before starting any major project or school term, I write down anything and everything I need to get done in my trusty planner. I'm one of those people who gets joy from crossing things off of my to-do list, and having everything written down in the same place makes it easy for me to make sure that I get everything done that I need to.
  • Clean and organize your living, eating, studying and sleeping spots. Clean spaces = a clean mind, so it's a no-brainer that having organized spaces can help you feel more relaxed and organized when it comes to tackling school and work. You'll wake up feeling more refreshed, study in a place that allows you to feel clear and concentrated, and come home to a bed that is perfectly cozy!
  • Motivation is key. This term I have super early classes, and even though it is only week 1 it has already been hard for me to motivate myself to get out of bed on time. To give myself a little bit of push in the mornings, I bought myself a new cute backpack and pencil case that I will actually want to use, thus making me more likely to head out the door for class! You can use this same tactic to help you stay on track, or you could also set reward levels for you to cash in on every time you accomplish your goals.
  • Last but not least, tackle everything with a positive mind. Positivity is the most important thing for any aspect of life! If you take things head on with a positive outlook (no matter how cheesy this may sound), you are more likely to be successful with whatever you are doing, and you'll live a much happier life as a result!
That's all for now! I am for sure taking heed of my own advice this week -- and I'm hoping things will start to settle down. I'm looking forward to having a spectacular spring term!

xoxo,
Lara
